Bizarre weather patterns continue this summer, with a mini-tornado in the South of France that killed one person

As French weather authorities are warning of further storms in eastern France today, a freak mini-tornado caused mayhem yesterday as it ripped through a camp site in the Ardèche, killing a 42-year-old man.

“For about 3 or 4km around, all the trees were completely flattened. I’ve never seen the likes of it in all my career,” said the second-in-command of the Gendarmerie detachment at Le Teil in Ardèche, speaking to news agency AFP.

About thirty caravans and tents were affected, as well as one restaurant, according to official estimates. Apart from the fatality, two more people were seriously injured and two were slightly injured at the Camping de la Plage in Saint-Just-d’Ardèche.
