Le Havre is the port through many visitors pass on their way to to and from their holiday to France every year.

It has no fewer than 15 regular markets that run throughout the year. Despite the density of markets, the scene is thriving here, with a voracious appetite for markets amongst the local population and an over-subscription of vendors.

The one that draws the biggest crowd is the bric-a-brac Champs de Foire every Saturday. With over 90 vendors, it lasts all day (07:30 to 18:00).

After that, the main indoor market is held at the local Halles on Places des Halles every Sunday from 09:00 to 13:00, with lots of great Normandy cheeses, local meats and plenty of seafood from the ocean on Le Havre’s doorstep.

The next most important central market in Le Havre is the Marché Thiers on Avenue René Coty every Monday, Tuesday and Friday from 07:30 to 13:30.

The rest of Le Havre’s markets are scattered around the town and most run along similar theme, except for the specialist St-François fish market. Excepting times when there’s a storm, it runs every day on the Quai de l’île from 09:00 to 19:30.
